Persona and settings

Esta página aún no está disponible en tu idioma.

Settings is where you shape who John is and how he spends effort. Changes save to your account; some need Update John before the running workspace picks them up.

Write who John is: chief of staff, executive assistant, ops lead, or whatever fits. Tone, priorities, and how he talks are yours. You can reset to the default persona if a draft goes off track.

Keep it short and operational. “You are our listing coordinator. Prefer facts over hype. Never send to a client without my OK.” beats a novel.

Choose how long answers tend to be: balanced, concise, or detailed. Pair this with a clear task format. How to delegate well.

  • Product language - dashboard copy (English, Polish, Spanish).
  • Workspace language and timezone - how John dates work and which locale he prefers on the private workspace.

You can still message John in any language on Slack or Telegram. Conversation language follows you.

Use Use browser defaults if you want Settings to match the browser.

Settings splits models into two groups.

Slack conversation tiers (you pick these in Slack with tags):

Tier Slack tag Good for
Quick !quick or !q Short answers, light work
Everyday !everyday or !e Default for most Slack messages (including Auto) and for Telegram
Deep !deep or !d Harder reasoning
Max !max or !x Highest effort

Background on your workspace (automatic, not selected with !q / !d):

  • Background routing on inbound messages
  • Memory and recall
  • Vision (images and video you send)
  • Image creation
  • Video creation is preview and may not apply in every environment

You can set a main model and optional backups if the primary is unavailable. Image creation can block save until a valid image model is selected; changing it then needs Update John.

More capable tiers cost more AI spend. Start with Everyday; use Deep or Max when the task is worth it.

Optional: share conversations with the John CEO team so we can improve the product and help with issues (questions, replies, tools used, and small file attachments).

This is off unless you turn it on. It is a product privacy control, not a legal scare banner. Slack data handling still follows Security: we do not use Slack data to train generalized models.

See Private workspace - sleep.

When the Email card is available: Email. If Settings says email is not available, it is still rolling out for your account.

  • Save - stores settings on your account.
  • Save and update John / Update John - refreshes the private workspace so persona, region, Telegram, email, and similar settings go live (about 3 minutes).

The dashboard banner tells you when saved settings are waiting on an update. Private workspace.
