Skills and playbooks
Skills are playbooks: they teach John how a kind of work is done so you do not repeat the same instructions every week. They sit next to Connections (access to your tools) and Apps (sites he hosts).
Open Skills in the john.ceo app.
Default and curated skills
Section titled “Default and curated skills”- Default playbooks are always on. You cannot turn those off.
- John CEO selected skills can be enabled or disabled. Filter by industry or type; a skill can appear in more than one group.
The selected library is intentionally small. Marketing pages may describe industries John can help with; that does not mean each vertical has its own shipped playbook. Connect the right apps and write a clear brief even when no extra skill is listed.
Save your selection. Saved changes reach John within a couple of minutes. Skill-only changes do not need Update John.
Community skills (beta)
Section titled “Community skills (beta)”The Community (ClawHub) tab lets you search and install playbooks from ClawHub.
- John CEO has not reviewed these skills.
- Only install skills you trust. The product asks you to confirm that risk.
- Installed community skills update automatically. Remove any skill you no longer want John to use.
Treat community skills as beta and unvetted.
Premium skills
Section titled “Premium skills”Premium skills (for example some audits and marketing video) can run on extra models and are billed at cost from your work credits. There is a toggle on the Skills page:
- Enabled - John can run premium skills
- Disabled - built-in skills only
Turn this off if you want to avoid that extra spend.
When to Update John
Section titled “When to Update John”Skill selection syncs on its own. Update John if the dashboard still says the workspace is on an older setup, or after you enable a product area (for example Apps) that ships a related default playbook. Private workspace.
