Files, PDFs, images, and video in Slack

In Slack, share a file in a DM or in a thread where John is already working, then tell him what to do with it.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- John installed in Slack (Slack)
- File shared in a conversation John can see (mention him if it is a new channel thread)
- For images: vision models in Settings
- For video: preview - John can review videos shared in Slack, including videos he posted. Availability can vary.
Example ask
Section titled “Example ask”Review this PDF. List risks, missing signatures, and anything that conflicts with what we said in this thread. Do not email the counterparty.
For a deck: “Turn these slides into a one-page brief for the meeting tomorrow.”
For video (preview): “Watch this clip and list the action items people agreed to.”
What John can read
Section titled “What John can read”The file bytes in that conversation, plus thread context. Channel memory stays in the channel.
What needs approval
Section titled “What needs approval”Forwarding the file or sending a derived document to someone else.
Expected output
Section titled “Expected output”A structured review (risks, quotes, open questions).
Credits and limits
Section titled “Credits and limits”Large files cost more AI spend. Workspace email attachments are a better dropbox when partners send files to John directly (Email, about 25 MB). Voice replies are preview.
